Cookie policy

This site sets one cookie, and only if you use the booking form. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixel and no cookie banner, because there is nothing here that needs your consent.

The one cookie

PHPSESSID
Set when you open the booking page. It holds the security token that proves the form you submit is the form you were given, which is what stops somebody else's website submitting it on your behalf. It contains a random identifier and nothing about you. It expires when you close your browser.

Under the ePrivacy Directive and the Dutch Telecommunications Act, a cookie that is strictly necessary to deliver something you asked for does not require consent. That's why you weren't asked.

What this site does not do

  • No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, no Plausible, no Ahrefs. Nothing counts your visit.
  • No advertising or remarketing. Nothing here builds an audience list or follows you to another site.
  • No hosted fonts. The two typefaces are served from this domain. Loading them from Google's servers would hand your IP address to Google on every page, which a German court ruled unlawful without consent in January 2022.
  • No social widgets. The links to Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube in the footer are plain links. They load nothing until you follow them.

YouTube, and only when you ask

The video pages show a still image and a play button. That image is served from this domain. Nothing is requested from YouTube, and no cookie of theirs is set, until you press play — at which point the film loads from youtube-nocookie.com and Google's own terms apply to it. Their privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

If you'd rather not press play here, the play button on each film is an ordinary link to YouTube — open it there instead, under whatever settings you keep for YouTube. Marcel's own channel is here, though these two particular films are hosted by the production company that made them.

Server logs

The web server records the usual: the address of the page requested, the time, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string. That's how a server works and how attacks are spotted. It isn't a cookie, and it isn't linked to anything else about you.

Turning cookies off

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. Blocking them here costs you nothing except the booking form, which cannot verify a submission without its session and will tell you so rather than fail quietly. You can always email info@marcelharmsen.nl instead.
